Extended hiatus

Blogging with small children is difficult. Let us just start there. However, I am going to try again because I really *enjoy* writing and I *enjoy* blogging, even if it is only for myself. :)

School's out! For a few days anyway. I only took off one 1/2 day this semester and I am really, really ready to have a break. I have too many kids to just "send them to the library" when I am out so I just didn't take off. In retrospect, I need to find a solution to that because everyone needs a break every now and then.

Dan is gone to NCTE in Philadelphia. Nana and Pop took Will to Wiggins to a car show. It has been just Maggie and me since Thursday. The first night was fine, the second night she wanted me to hold her and that seems to be holding true for today, Saturday. We are going to one of my student's quincenera tonight. I will probably have to go around bedtime so she can get a good nights rest in before church tomorrow. I have nursery duty during the 9:30 service.

On a funny note, we got Will's Christmas present in the mail.
LeapFrog Fridge Farm Magnetic Animal Set
As I said, it was Will's present, but so far, Maggie loves it. Our is a little different than the picture. It has a chicken instead of the frog in the barn loft. It plays music and, were I to take it out of the box, it lets you change out he pieces for the barn door and plays animal sounds or makes comments like, "Did you know that milk comes from cows? Moo!" I think Will is going to like it too. I hope he doesn't mind Maggie playing with him!

Will's 1st swim

We took Will swimming yesterday for the first time. He actually didn't mind. He wasn't all smiley and happy, much more interested in his feet.

Wonder who reads your webpage?

I guess it is the nosiness in me, but I always wonder if anyone clicks my link. Well, now I can check with Google analytics. They let just anyone sign up, not just businesses.

Packing begun

Since we got rained out of the garage sale we started packing anyway. We have investigated moving trucks and found a good deal on one. Then we began boxing books. So far we have only boxed books and are up to 21 12x12 boxes. 2 more book shelves to go! (There has been discussion if all these books are needed, but really they are.)

In an effort to keep myself on track I have a list of things to do each day this week. We are shooting for a new garage sale on Saturday and we should be getting close. My sister-in-law's wedding is in Amarillo on the 16th so we will be moving after that.

The hardest thing is deciding what we won't need until after we get a new place to live. We are moving in with mom and dad (Nana and Pop) for the time being while we sell our house in Fort Worth. What do we not need access to for an undetermined length of time? I don't want to box up any baby stuff because I don't know what we will need and he may grow out of it before we unpack it!

All in all the packing is going well. I was going to post a video, but apparently that is complicated so here is my best try...and a link if it doesn't work.

Mpix

Dan found a new site that you can order professional quality prints. They are reasonably priced so we are going to try it out and have some printed to be framed.

Here are a few of the initial forerunners:

Defunked garage sale

Today we were going to be having a garage sale. However when we woke up at 6 it was raining so we got back in bed. By 10 it was sunny out but the ground was muddy so we are putting it off till next week.

I got my room at school packed up. My school career there is now over. I start over in MS in August. At which time baby will go to church daycare, unless we can find a sitter.

Will is getting very, very big. He is starting to teeth a little and can hold things though he can't really move them the way he wants and we have to put stuff in his hands usually. He can pull out his pacifier (has been since week 2...what fun that has been) but is now trying to put it back in his mouth.

Big baby

While Dan is watching Survivorman on Discovery recreate a version of Hatchet, I will use this opportunity to post to my blog...that no one reads cause I never post. :)

Will is fairly fussy today. I think he has gas on his tummy. But he has been very very good lately. We weighed him this afternoon and he was 15.8 lbs according to the handy packing scale we use to ship books on Amazon. Don't worry we put a blanket on it and tared the scale first.

For Mother's Day we took him to the zoo...with all the rest of the mothers, the zoo was packed.

He seemed to really enjoy it.

School gets out on Friday. Graduation is Thursday. Prom was last night. This is my last week in Texas. I'm kinda sad, but it will be good to be back in Mississippi.

Interviews

Well I went to 3 interviews so far. All very promising. 1 pure ESL job, 1 job at the reservation so there are ESL concerns, 1 job where there is no ESL trained English teacher, but increasing numbers of ESL kids and 1 just English job at a school that is doing smaller learning communities. 2 are in town, 1 is an hour & 1/2 away and 1 is 3 hours away....we will see.

Baby Will got hungry yesterday cause i wasnt there to feed him. His Pop found out that he doesn't particularly care for orange flavored Pedialyte. But, he didn't starve or cry uncontrollably until I came home. He also spent the night with Nana and Pop in their bedroom. He was a very good boy and slept from 9 until 3. Then he didn't fuss while Nana warmed up his bottle. I am proud of him.
